I've been to Cuba a couple of times, which has always been a great blessing. However, this ministry opportunity with Proclaim Cuba took my experience to a whole new level.
I was invited to minister to a number of pastors who responded with incredible appreciation. Fortunately, we were able to give each participant a copy of my book, The Measure of a Man which is translated into Spanish. On the first day, I spoke in two sessions, explaining the qualities of maturity outlined by Paul in 1 Timothy Chapter 3 and Titus Chapter 1.
My translator was a young pastor who did a super job. After I returned to Dallas, he sent an email explaining he had gone back to his own church and shared with the congregation some of the character qualities, making reference to my book The Measure of a Man. In his own words, he wrote:
"Let me tell you a little story. When I shared in my congregation some of the teachings of the book last Sunday in the morning service, a lady said at the top of her voice, 'All our men here need that book, and the people said Amen!'" I'm sure you can imagine my response. Though funny, this was evidently a very serious moment!
It was indeed a wonderful trip. In spite of the extreme poverty, these Christians are incredibly dedicated to the Lord. It was a humbling experience!
